From The Runway // ACHTLAND

We all spend so much time obsessing over Fashion Week - in New York, London, Paris and Milan - we (or at least I) tend to forget there are other places around the world showing some pretty amazing fashion.Take, for example, Berlin. (and maybe you remember my peek at Australia!) Here we have a new designer on the Berlin scene, ACHTLAND. Oliver Lühr, Creative Director says, “ACHTLAND is intended to encapsulate the tension that arises in the play of opposites: for example in the formal elegance of a Victorian dress shirt paired with the femininity of silk-georgette or the strong architectonic silhouette found in our evening dresses.”I think this tension is rather clear in their S/S 14 collection - a fun mix of girly details with boxy, structured pieces. I kinda love it.

In case you aren't a fan yet - the label is named after Queen Achtland, a figure from Irish-Celtic mythology. Born mortal, she was dissatisfied by the choice of mortal men, so she elevated herself to goddess status by marrying a god.BOOM.
