A Year of Kate

It's hard to believe that a year ago today I voluntarily got up at 6am to watch the wedding of a couple I don't know - and I was excited about it. Since that day Catherine has given me countless reasons to gawk at her effortlessly chic style and always perfect hair.
So in honor of the Duke and Duchess' one year anniversary I rounded up a my favorite Kate looks. Let's all drool over them and wish we were princesses... {or at lease lust after their closets}

Real Life Style #17 - Shorts!

It was a blustery, but sunny, spring day. The perfect sort of day for the denim cutoffs to make their seasonal debut. Paired with a playful dotty blouse, a boating themed belt scored years ago at a rummage sale {we can call that vintage, yes?} and my favorite pair of leopard print loafers and the shorts feel dressed up just enough for skipping around New York in the Spring...

Lessons in Spring from J Crew

Whenever the seasons change I run into trouble. I get so used to dressing for the previous season that I feel lost when the weather changes on me. Oh, it's Spring now? Too warm for boots and sweaters? WHAT WILL I WEAR? It just gets traumatic.

I'm assuming that I'm not the only one who suffers form Seasonal Dressing Confusion {SDC} and luckily, help is available. This Spring it comes in the form of the J. Crew catalog, {who's surprised?}

So - what have we learned? Chambray, stripes and bright, fresh hues should get us through the season. But since my bank account really hates it when I try to become an exact replica of the J. Crew catalog, here are a few other options to try out...

Real Life Style #16 - Copycat

I have a new designer crush. Orla Kiely.

Now - to be fair - I've know about Orla Kiely for a while {I'm a long time fan of her prints...} but I've only recently discovered her gorgeous ready-to-wear line.

We got a good look at the full collection at IFB's UltraBookStyle event - drool. And, it turns out a few of my very favorite stylish ladies are Orla fans as well. So imagine my glee when I got my hands on her Cruise 2012 Shirt Dress {the very same Keira Knightly wore at the Venice Film Festival} Normally I wouldn't condone copycatting {copy-kateing?} someone's style this directly. But really - when you're dealing with perfection what more can you do?
